Do you have an old bike which weighs on your conscience? Our newest WinACC member Guy writes, "I am actively recycling old bikes for people to save them going in landfill and to try and get more people using bikes" www.bicyclerecycling.co.uk. He will take your bike away, or tell you what needs to be done to make it roadworthy and quote you a price. And you can even see Guy's carbon footprint!

Senator Titus Claudius scoffed at the authors of the Foreign Barbarian Invasion: Impacts, Mitigation, and Risk Management report, saying, "Obviously, these people have warned of barbarian invasions before - and look - Rome is as rich and prosperous as ever."

The next 'Training for Transition' course is taking place in The Hub, Islington, London on the 25th and 26th September.

Local Sustainable Homes - How to make them happen in your community.

Our homes are a major source of carbon emissions and therefore of global warming. And they are poorly equipped to cope with the problems that climate change and peak oil will bring.

But there is some good news. We don’t need to discover a ‘magic bullet’ or invest billions in new technologies or smart materials to make our homes more sustainable. Everything we need is already here and thousands of individuals, groups and organisations are busy turning their homes into low carbon exemplars and pushing the boundaries to cut carbon emissions far beyond government targets.

Our friends at Sustrans are holding their 'Big Sustrans Party' next weekend in the grounds of Caerphilly castle to mark the 15th anniversary of the fabulous National Cycle Network.

They have kindly offered their partners (Transition Initiatives included) the opportunity to have a stall free of charge. You'll need to provide your own gazebo or tent but other than that you are welcome to come along and share what you are up to.
